Baby Goodies
I planned on going home to Chicago to have my baby shower. My doctor advised me not to travel after 28 wks.?
Now I cant go and I dont have many friends and family where I stay at. I dont want to go against the doctors advise. Any suggestions on how I can still have a long distance type of shower. I was thinking maybe people could ship gifts or giftcards. I was thinking I could just have one after the baby is born but I am cheated of all the goodies that people buy for you that you dont have to buy yourself when you have a baby shower. Also I didnt want everyone breathing down my newborn baby's neck. 
All suggestions welcome. Thank you in advance.

I would listen to the dr. advice. you dont want to risk going into labor or something while out of town. The best idea is the gift cards, that way you dont get a lot of doubles and crap you dont want/need and you can just pick out whatever you'd like. As the mother of a newborn, trust me-- they will come in handy for diapers and other expensive baby things!

I had a baby shower thrown for me a few months aggo. My sisters threw it, for favors they just had suckers with pink ribbon. And then they bought some candles and such for prizes for the games we played. People really enjoyed the games and the gifts. The suckers where just an added bonus.
