what kayak paddle should i choose?

i have 2 diffrent lengths, a 42in. adjustable and a 84 in. kayak paddle. i am 5'5 female. not sure what length i should purchase. i would prefer a adjustable one so i can compact it in a bag.

I'm not sure what you mean by a 42" adjustable paddle. You mean that it's a 2-piece and each half is 42" and that the overall length can be adjusted somewhat? If that's the case, that might work for you. Adjustable is a good way to go if you're not sure what length you should get and you don't have a chance to try out a bunch of different paddles.

An 84" paddle could work for you. All depends on your boat and paddling style. See one of my previous answers for details:
