Are all polished river rocks safe for betta fish tanks?

The problem is that I bought a small bag of black polished river rocks (brand name Panacea) from Michael's for my new betta tank. On the tag is specifically says, "Do not use in aquariums" but I don't see why it would hurt. The label doesn't include the type of rock, but they sell the very same sort of polished rocks in pet stores. Just not as inexpensive! Anyone have experience with this one?

Rocks for decoration are polished with a chemical called lacquer, which may cause reaction to the water of the tank.

If you wish to use those rocks to decorate your tank, you need to first keep them immersed in boiling water for about 5-10 minutes, let them stay in the same water until the water cools, then take them out and wash them with some strong detergent.

After cleaning with detergent, immerse the rocks in normal water for another 10-12 hours, and they are ready to be set into your aquarium.
