Bag Bpa
So WORRIED, baby's caretaker boiled/thawed frozen milk in bag in a Bottle Warmer!?
I use Lansinoh BPA Free double closure bags for my breastmilk. I am very worried because my baby's new caretaker boiled/thawed my frozen breastmilk (in a Lansinoh BPA-free breastmilk STORAGE BAG) in a bottle warmer and fed the milk to my 9 month old baby. The label specifically says NOT TO boil the bag, and I can imagine the hot plate touching the plastic bag inside the bottle warmer. What are the possible side effects of this? She said that she put the bag in for around 2-3 minutes. WIll the plastic leech into the milk? What can this do to my baby? I'm hoping for a response at the soonest possible time. I'm very, very worried! Thank you.
They say not to boil in the bag because the bag can melt, spill the contents and ruin the bottle warmer. The chemicals in the bag can leech out when exposed to heat, but that happens with ANY plastic at ANY temperature to some degree, even BPA free plastics.
Scientists can actually tell where a person is from, and WHEN a person is from just based on the amount of plastics and other toxins stored up in the tissue and bones. This is a gradual process as these chemical are in everything from our cups and bottles to our shampoos and food preservatives. Your baby is exposed to them constantly- unless you're amish and use no mass man made products.
One time is not going to be enough to poison or have long term effects. Babies can even EAT plastic and poop it back out and be just fine. Its happened before.
Teach your care giver how to properly thaw breast milk and heat it. It should be thawed under running water, honestly, and then heated right away and used, by placing it in more hot water until it reaches the right temperature. Thats ideal.
