is she addicted to food shopping?

My Mum, I love her to bits but her excessive food shopping really really frustrates me.

She can't go into town without coming home with a bag of food shopping. Not all the food gets eaten, infact most of it ends up in the bin or rammed in the freezer. We have a tall fridge and a tall freezer that are both packed full. I've thought about getting rid of these and buying her a fridge/freezer combi so she can't store as much! There are only 3 of us living in this house, yet there are over 24 yogurts in the fridge and 3 big mutli packs of crisps!!! That's just an example of her excessive shopping!

She complains about not having enough money to pay bills, yet she doesn't recognise that she is spending all her money on food, how do I make her notice this? I'm due to move out again and I can't help but worry about her and her spending!

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks a lot guys.

It seems your mom likes to go shopping, but since she has money issues she'll spend it all on food, which is a necessity.
My advice is that you leave her be. Unless it gets excessive and things actually get thrown out.
It's the only thing she has left, why take it away from her? Or you could try and redirect her behavior through a simple reward system. For instance if she manages to save $50 she should spend it on something else for herself.
