Gutloading crickets??

what is the best type of gutload for the crickets.....the crickets are being fed to leopard geckos....

i just bought Nature Zone Total Bites (for feeder insects)...ALL-IN-ONE DIET with SPIRULINA VITAMINS & MINERALS. it is in a 10oz box and inside the box looks like green moist squares in a bag

i believe they make power for the gutload also....i just dont know what is best
or would it be best to feed them a home made mix
(fruits, vegetables, oatmeal, cat/dog food, etc.)

The best thing to do is to feed commercial cricket food AND fruits and veggies at the same time, this ENSURES the crickets are providing the correct nutrients to your pet. You might also try adding some multivitamin to the crickets as well. You can even use human vitamins, like centrum, powder it in a food processor or blender and mix some with the powdered food for the crickets, I use flukers, you can use a combination of what you have, cricket water (this makes SURE they are getting enough moisture), carrots, potatoes, other veggies that are appropriate to feed to reptiles (even if your pet doesn't eat veggies, see what is ok for other reptiles, crickets only provide the nutrients that they eat, and you don't want to feed them something that shouldn't be going into your pet) and some fruit that is appropriate for reptiles. Put containers of cricket water, powdered food mixed with the vitamins, and the food that you have, along with shallower containers with a "cricket salad" made up of a mix of the things I have suggested. A good thing to make cheap, disposable dishes out of (you'll want to throw them out every now and then, even if you wash them all the time) is the bottom of water bottles (for the powdered food and the cricket water) and butter bowl lids (or other container lid) for the salad and the cubes that you bought. As for using cat food or dog food, I wouldn't recommend it, in order to feed them something that is not VERY bad for cats and dogs as well as other pets, you would have to spend more than is reasonable. I know alot of people say to feed the crickets or even their reptiles this, but it just really isn't a good idea as dog/cat food companies routinely use meat (usually ONLY by products like feathers, beaks, organs not considered edible for humans, etc.) that is not fit for human consumption. They also use ALOT of corn (a very cheap protein source), and while I don't know off the top of my head whether corn is okay for reptiles, I KNOW it is bad for dogs and cats (it is so indegestible that is can be considered toxic, and a diet high in corn has been shown to cause cancer in dogs and cats, in fact removing corn form thier diet can even reverse the cancer if they have it already), and I'm not going to feed my herps something I won't feed my cats and dog.
