Wouldn't be my first choice for a bag. Rayons come in a variety of types, but they're mostly much, much weaker when wet than dry, tend to stretch out of shape, and are just not the fiber of choice (IMO) for a tote bag. See:

"Bamboo rayon" aka "bamboo fabric" is a viscose rayon made from bamboo feedstock.
It's also a "greenwashed fiber"... ballyhooed as "green", but really not very: http://www.patagonia.com/pdf/en_US/bamboo_and_rayon.pdf
Cotton, linen, hemp, polyester or nylon would all be better choices of fiber for totes.
