Did being a girl or the youngest changehow you were treated?
Sometimes it helped me,sometimes it didn't.If one of my brothers hit me or took my toys,I was told,"Don't come crying to Daddy.',& made to go hit them back.If they did something stupid and Dad thought everyone could learn the same lesson all at once,I was included.Daddy made usually made everyone go in order by age for the belt and it wasn't lessened,because I was younger or the only girl.Then other times,when the boys were in charge I could tell Dad&and he would override them.
Punishments weren't any less hurtful or more demanding for me, being the baby girl of the family. However, I was told plenty times that if I were to bring a boy home... you could imagine. My parents, especially my mother, are more strict on me because the oldest (girl) of the family made some not too wise choices with guys. I suppose I do get some sort of special treatment...? My brother (two years older) always complains how our father treats me better. But I think if it was true, it'd be because I excel academically and am involved in athletics. (Which were two things he was all about in high school.) And admittedly, my brother doesn't live up to father's expectations very well... I don't believe it's because I'm the baby girl, but my mother has said that it's common for fathers to feel protective over their daughters.
Aside from that, I occasionally get excused from household chores if I'm dealing with painful (menstrual) cramps or an illness. But, I also seem to have a bit more responsibility around the house...
