Why is Peter Criss underrated?
Most KISSfans don't like his solo album or some the songs he sings on the KISS albums. I've even known some KISS fans who prefer Eric Carr over him. Eventhough they do like Beth.
Peter sings Beth & Black Diamond. But people say he is their 4th favorite KISS member.
Peter Griffin even said so in the KISS stock episode when Lois dressed up as the Catman.
I love his makeup design and his singing voice. Peter is a talented drummer and has influenced many others including Vinnie Paul & Tommy Lee.
Criss is NOT underrated. He was an average drummer at best during the glory days of Kiss, and on the recent reunion run, the band had to resort to using drum triggers because he simply no longer has the power to create the heavy drum sound that is needed for their performance. I did enjoy his solo album, but I am also a fan of 50s and early 60s rock. I can see why most Kiss fans would dislike it. His best songs by far in the Kiss catalog were written by other members of the band (Black Diamond was a Stanly composition, Strange Ways was written by Ace, Hard Luck Woman was written by Stanley, Baby Driver... that's the only good one he wrote in my opinion).
As a drummer, Eric Carr and Eric Singer both are definitely superior to Peter Criss.
