What color is the trim on your house? What about the door? Accessories, like rugs, are often a great opportunity to add a bit of color. If you have some color in the trim, the door or other accessories, there is certainly nothing wrong with going with a neutral like black or beige. Of the two, I'd think the beige would show less dirt. After all, dirt is kinda beige....
