Silver Balloon and black molly together?
Hi, I have a new 48lt/10 gallon tank? (9 days old) and introduced my first fish on the 7th day, after 'cycling the tank'. I bought 1 silver balloon molly and 1 black molly to start with. The silver balloon molly seems to spend most of his time chasing the black molly around the tank, he is not nipping at his fins but i cant work if the they are playing or if it is annoying the black molly.hope somebody can give a newbie some advice : )
7 days isn't enough time for cycling a tank. 4 weeks is more like it, although it can take longer. You need to get and ammonia test kit and check ammonia levels daily. Nitrite and nitrate tests will need to be done later. You can expect the ammonia levels to be spiking anytime if they haven't already, and this is the worse time for fish you may have added.
If you have a male and a female, the male will constantly be chasing the female, attempting to mate with her. You can expect babies about every month. Otherwise, don't worry, they're just being mollies.
