Blue Army Camo

British Army Paras -Wings question.?

Once British Paras have completed the parachute course, they re awarded the "wings"

Sometimes the wings are blue in colour (see first link) and sometimes they are black on a green background (see second link) and I was wondering what the difference is, should there be one?

I don't think it's to do with what colour camo they are wearing, because I've seen both sets of wings on both sets of camo, desert and woodland - see the link below, the 2 soldiers on th left are wearing the same camo, from te same unit - 2PARA - but different colour wings.

Can anybody shed some light on this?

The blue wings are for use on normal uniform but would stand out on a camo background defeating the object of camoflauge. The green/black is more subdued in colour for use on combat fatigues when in theatre.
