mother in law?

Did you find your mother in law basically unbearable during pregnancy? I generally like mine, but since I've been pregnant...not so much.

She keeps calling the baby "Alex Junior" (my partner's name) because she doesn't like the names we've chosen and keeps dropping not-so-subtle hints that we should name him after his father.

She bought a Pooh nursery set secondhand. I just thanked her and said an extra set never hurt, and even though we've picked out his nursery (a green gingham theme) she keeps insisting that the baby should have a blue room because he's a boy and it would match the Pooh set.

These are just examples. I understand she means well, and these aren't terrible things, but she meddles in EVERYTHING, telling me what I can and can't buy, what I should call him, what he should wear, what diapers to use...but she had her babies; this one is MINE.

Was your mother in law like this? Was it just because it was her first grandchild, or did she keep it up FOREVER

laughing because i can totally relate! the day we called her to tell her we were having a girl she actaully said "well isn't he upset because YOU are not GIVING him a boy????" I was shocked! Then i pointed out to her that he was the deciding factor in the sex of the baby, not me

and yes, the name thing was hell for us too! she called with a list of 5 BETTER names than the one we have picked out (we stuck to our name, of course).

i remember this when we got married...she acted very pushy and liked to point out what i was doing wrong and made it sound like she could do things much better...i think they have a hard time letting go of their boys and now that a baby is coming into the picture it gets worse....hopefully for you you live a distance away like i do.....monster in laws are more like it good luck and don't let it get in the way of the amazing experience the three of you (meaning you, partner and baby) will be having together
