How do you find F and the k constant in the spring formula?

I need to test a spring. I know that F=kx, but in my case both F and k are unknown. If I hang a 100g, 200g, or 500g mass on the bottom of a spring how can I calculate the force acting on the spring and find k?

x is the displacement, you can measure this for no mass (natural spring length=x0) and after hanging 100, 200, and 500 gram.

calculate x using distance-x0 (meters)
convert mass to force using
F = mg

After this graph F versus x. Hopefull this will be a line going through 0. gradient = delta_F/delta_x which is what you want

Basking in the Sunshine With Spring Break Events

Spring break events occur throughout the United States as well as other parts of the world. This is a time of year when young people, most of whom are college students, are off school and converge on various vacation areas to enjoy fun in the sun, or on the slopes. Most of the Spring Break events that take place throughout the United States take place in Florida, with a fair amount occurring in California. Spring Break events include parties and concerts, some more formal while others are very impromptu.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Fort Lauderdale, Florida is located on the Gold Coast of Florida, not far from Miami. This is the ultimate Spring Break hangout as this is where it all began. Today, spring break events take place from March to May in this part of the state as Spring Breakers converge on this area of the United States.

One of the Spring Break events that takes place each years is the MTV Spring Break concert that occurs in Fort Lauderdale every year. There are other concerts that feature various artists that occur at nearby Palm Beach in Florida. Florida is the Spring Break capital of the United States, undisputed. Concerts, sales and parties are hosted both formally and informally throughout Florida as this state catches more than its share of spring fever. Denver, Colorado

When it comes to skiing, Denver is one of the ski capitals of the United States. Not all spring break is designed around sunshine and beach frolics.
