What do you think about painting a bedroom tiffany blue and having the base trim and crown chocolate brown?

I'm being coaxed into this color combination and don't think it's a good idea. As a general rule, I think you want your crown molding to be a slightly different color from your wall, not totally clashy. So, tiffany blue walls and chocolate brown crown molding and base boards, what do you honestly think of that cominbation?

I personally think white would better suit the crown molding and base boards. If any brown is added to the room, it should be in the form of picture frames, furniture, accents, etc. Brown and blue can look wonderful together, but keep it clean with white (maybe even a more creamy off-white) and let the brown do its work in the room's accessories.

White baseboards and trim or brown stained inside a house?

Which do you prefer?

If you go with white, be prepared to wash, or at least wipe clean frequently because dirt just shows on white. I prefer wood trim to be natural or slightly darkened, and sealed. It also depends on the raw trim itself. If it is a hardwood like oak, for instance, with its sometimes exotic grains, it would be a shame to cover this natural beauty with paint. On the other hand, if it's a softwood, like pine, painting would be better. Just a hint, it doesn't have to be white. I've seen some beautiful painted trim in a number if colors.
