Making a quilt for my best friend.?

I am making a quilt, blanket, throw, whatever you want to call it for my best friend. I want it to be camoflauge (the real stuff) and hunters orange. What would be a good plan for this blanket? I want it to be a good size and very comfy. Also I want it to last any pointers?

You can cut the backing bigger than the top, and fold it up and around to form the edging.
Or you can sew a binding all the way around.
