Whats the best age and color to get highlights with black hair?

Ok, So my hair is black and my skin is caramel color . And I was wondering what color highlights should I get them . I was thinking about burgundy or a gold color or a light brown color . What color should I get? And what age should I get them? Im 14 so should I wait till next year?

well i got highlights when i was in like second grade so i think its a good age and for the color i would say a light brown because i have very dark hark and the light brown/ blonde looks good in my hair and my skin is kinda dark so i hope i helped
