Can you go 8 hours without changing a pad?

Okay, so i just got my period today and i have a heavy flow. I don't have any time during school to change so is it okay to go through eight hours without changing my pad? I would change it right when i got home. Also is it okay for leaving a tampon in for 8 hours? I really don't have any time in school to change it and it would be embarrassing to walk to the bathroom with a new pad because at lunch time my friend and i share a locker and she doesn't know i got my period...
Ok people: my main question is if its okay if i wear a pad for 8 hours?
ok maybe i should resay this: I have a medium/heavy flow, but it can all stay in one pad without leaking. Is it still ok to leave it in there for 8 hours??

You can go up to 8 hours with a tampon, but you don't want to push it either, so...try this:

1. In the morning put in a heavy flow tampon and wear a heavy flow pad.
2. After lunch, go to the bathroom and take out the tampon. You have a fresh pad waiting in your underwear catching any drips that the tampon missed and ready to go for the rest of the day.

Upside to this is you don't have to worry about remembering to carry around a pad or tampon. You can go a long time without having to go over the 8 hour limit... which you really do not want to do. Don't mess with leaving Tampons in a long time. It's not safe and not worth it.
