Why does the water from my Delta 474 faucet is coming out with charcoal like particles? Can this be fixed?

We have a fairly new (3 year old) Delta 474 kitchen faucet. Recently lots of black dots or tiny chips are coming out with the water. They look like charcoal particles. Does this faucet has a filter that needs to be replaced? I have searched everywhere and have found no info on this. The water from the rest of our house faucets comes out cleaned. We only have this problem in the water that comes out of the kitchen faucet.
They are chalk like. If I leave the particle residue on a white plastic bowl and press it with my finger, it will paint the dish black, that is why I thought they could be charcoal particles.
