Cat pad colour change?
I have a solid dark grey cat. His pads used to be a uniform solid charcoal grey, but now they are splotched with light pink. Could this be a sign of illness or is it just something that can happen? I've never heard of this kind of colour change before.
Interesting question you have. However I wish you would have given more info. How old is you cat? Could be as your kitty is getting out of kitten state you may find a few changes. This could be a genetic thing. Personally, I've never seen a cat with all solid charcoal grey pads. Any cat I've ever seen, there pads are always pink. However this does not rule out genetics. Is your cat acting any different at this time? Does your cat show any kind of discomfort or is it just a matter of the change in color?
When I got my cat from the shelter they told me that Cinder was about three years old. That seems to be the magic age for an adult cat. Anyway when we got her she is/was black with fine gold fur intermingled with her black fur. After we had her for awhile I notice more gold fur appearing. That's when I figured that she was not three years old when we got her. I figure she was more like 1 year old when we got her. We have had her for just about two years now and I still see more gold continuing to grow. I don't know when this will stop growing. Will it stop growing as she continues to mature? I guess this a wait/see situation. I'm not complaining, because it's quite nice to see her two toned. I believe she is a certain type of cat which I looked up in a cat book, but the name slips my mind like a lot of other things.
That's why I'm wonder how hold your cat is. Perhaps your cat is still maturing and there may be small changes accuring.
I don't want to just say take her to the vet and have it checked out. However, why not give your vet a call and the vet might be able to give you an answer right over the phone. That's up to you.
