Smelly dog who is bathed weekly.?

My mum has a smelly 8yo maltese x and I think he may be allergic to something. She feeds him his dry food and wet food daily and he regularly gets schmacko's, dog choc's and people bickies for treats. She was advised he may be allergic to beef so is feeding him kangaroo meat but he's still really smelly. He scratches and is oily and his skin is pink in places. The vet just wants to put him on cortisone, mum won't do anything. Pls help if u can.

Here's a list of things that may help;

- Stop feeding smacko's, human bikkies and chocks, and feed dried liver as treats instead.

- Research the raw food diet (which I highly reccomend) or choose a high quality GRAIN FREE food instead.

- Increase omega-3's in the diet; fish, sardines, pilchards, brains and/or fish oils.

- Vary the meats in the diet. Kangaroo is a rich meat with no fat, I only give it to my dogs a few days a week. Chicken is an option too. Raw beef may be fine as opposed to cooked beef.

Your mums dog is only going to get better if she researches her options, and makes some positive, healthy changes to her dogs diet. If she googles *raw feeding/allergies in dogs* etc a wealth of information comes up
