Which diaper brand has the best quality cloth diapers or diaper covers?

Looking into getting cloth diapers or covers but I don't know what diaper brand to get.

There are many things to consider, but the best budget diapers are thirsties covers and chinese prefolds.

You can diaper a baby from birth to age 4 using this system for $200.

Thirsties covers leak the least. Read reviews on amazon.com. Get the duowraps in the 2 sizes, size 1 and size 2. This covers 6 - 40 pound babies. Get prefolds in sizes infant and premium from cottonbabies.com

You need 5 of each duowrap size (10*12 = $120), 30 infant prefolds ($1 each = $30), and 20 premium prefolds ($1.50 each = $30). This is $180 and covers everything.

Except snappis. Get 3. They are about $3 each, so that is $190 total, it is plenty of diapers and it really does cover 6-40 pounds, or birth to age 4.

Some people prefer all in ones, but that is going to run you $2000, and it is for the convenience of putting the diaper on about 3 seconds quicker. Those more expensive systems are actually wash clean, since they are more delicate.

Prefolds you can beat the heck out of, and they just get fluffier and better. The covers you wash carefully, but they don't get very dirty anyway. They can really just be wiped off between uses and be fine. All-in-ones you do something wrong in the wash and you're out a thousand bucks.

You can reuse the covers without washing multiple times before washing. The all in ones you have to wash EVERYTHING each time, so you need 30 $15 diapers in each size. Not just 30 $1 prefolds.

Do read the reviews on amazon.com, and see what people say. I researched carefully, and chose prefolds and thirsties for our limited budget. We did not have money to screw around "testing" brands, so I researched, and found the best one for a tight budget. It is thirsties covers and chinese prefolds with snappis closures. No contest.

A diaper cover is a cloth diaper. Cloth diapers consist of an absorbant and non absorbant part. With prefolds and covers they are completely separate. Instead of prefolds, flats or fitteds can be used, but the absorbant part and the cover are bought separate, and a wide range of things can work together.

In All-in-two's they are a specific. You can remove the absorbant and non absorbant parts, but they come as part of a package. It is difficult to replace just one part, as they are typically sold together. The absorbant part fits into the nonabsorbant part easily, but the absorbant part is more expensive then a prefold, and generally more delicate (thus must be more careful about washing).

All-in-ones you can't take apart. Easy to put on baby, tough to really get clean, since you have to be delicate on the cover part, which is completely attached to the absorbant part, where all the pee and poo soaks in. They tend to cost the most, and if you screw them up in the wash, you are out a substantial amount of money. You need a separate one for each diaper change, so cost is much higher than a prefold and cover system.

You want to be environmentally friendly and use cloth diapers to reduce the amount of landfill waste, but you are still anxious about the washing procedure. Many of today's young mothers were raised with disposable diapers and have this same concern. You may be surprised to know that washing cloth diapers is not as difficult or even as gross as you might imagine. Gone are the days of soaking, pre-washing, bleaching and air-drying cloth diapers. Cleaning cloth diapers in this manner was quite a bit of work and took a long time. You can still purchase plain, pre-folded diapers and use them with the soft, washable diaper covers which are now available. The newer models of cloth diapers are much improved over the old style. You can buy one of many all-in-one diaper systems. One such brand is Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers, which are diaper and cover in one piece, with an optional insert. All the pieces, plus the “wet bag” which is used to hold the soiled diapers until laundering, can be washed together, which really helps simplify the process.
