Advice Please! Volunteers no more?

To make a long story short, I am a volunteer coordinator of a youth group. Four other volunteers and I agreed to do a beach bonfire. The other four volunteers bowed out with alot of lame excuses. Now I am the one holding the bag. We were going to share expenses, buying firewood, someone donating the use of their truck to haul the wood to the beach, even the guitar player bailed. We advertised this event in our church bulletin! There are almost 80 kids confirmed to be there. What do I do? Spend my own money on this or cancel?

Cancel. You go anywhere with 80 kids and one of them gets hurt you will be sued. No one can watch 80 kids at once, especially at an event that involves fire (where its easy for a kid to get hurt) and being in the woods (where its easy for a kid to get lost). The lawsuit will say that anyone with a half a brain would have to have known that they couldn't properly supervise 80 kids at one time and the trip was a recipie for disaster before it even began.
