Which country buys the most custom cars these days?

I have a master's degree in car design, and have been working as a university lecturer for the past eight years.
I've had it with the desk job now, and I'm quitting.
I want to start an apprenticeship as a coachbuilder here in New Zealand, and it is my dream to design, build, and sell my own cars, expedition vehicles, and cool trailers.
Where, I wonder, would my market be in the world?
I don't think the New Zealanders buy a lot of wild-looking custom vehicles, and Australia also isn't that big a client base. Not that I need lots of clients, I am not aspiring to be Toyota Motor Company, just a little boutique outfit where me and a bunch of blokes with mig welders and a few cases of beer take a year or so to build a big expedition vehicle and flog it to the highest bidder.
