what do you really NEED to take with you to the hospital?

in the baby's diaper bag what do you really need like you there for like 4 day max right? unless somethings wrong im have a lil girl but you dont really need like 10 outfits and all that do you i mean 4 days the hospital gives you so much like they give you diapers the whole stay so do you need to bring them? an for your self and daddy do you need anything? i got tooth bushes but they give you gowns should you bring a night gown anyway? please just tell me what you took an whats completely necessary to bring

You don't actually need to bring anything.

The hospital will provide all you need, EXCEPT for the infant car seat. That you do need, or rather who ever comes and picks up needs it.

What I am glad I brought? My nursing pillow, my camera, and my cell phone. You'll want to call and text people as soon as you get a break. And send video and picture messages to.

Wish I had brought? Tops I could nurse in! That SUCKED! I had to take my top off, and people came in and out... it was horrible. Actually I would have liked a privacy wrap. Just the people going in and out... they let me use their pump too, but again, topless with nurses in and out constantly.... I didn't care for that at all.

Also I wish I had brought bottles. I didn't like the ones the hospital gave us, and I ended up having to supplement for a few days. The playtex ones cause less nipple confusion, but the ones they have there are super fast easy flow so sick / weak babies can get food easily.

They give you diapers for your whole stay, and some to take home.

They will put you in the standard hospital gown. If you don't want to wear it around (and walk the halls in it) bring something else to wear. You can bring an outfit to take baby home in, but they will give you a basic outfit for the baby to wear that you can keep.

Bring a blanket to keep baby warm on the way home. If baby is going to room with you, consider bringing a kiddopotamus swaddle. They are REALLY great to have. If staying in nursery they will swaddle them for you, or just use blanket and let them deal with escapes.

Bring toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo. I think ours only provided a bar of soap (maybe they did provide a bit more and I forgot, but it wasn't much). Might want to bring maxi pads. They will provide something, but I didn't like their system too much. You will have a really heavy flow, that is hard to keep completely contained (at least not with what they provide!)

Honestly they will provide whatever you absolutely must have. But if your breastfeeding I would bring your pillow, bottles, and nursing tops. It is nice to have your own toiletry items there, but it isn't necessary.

Don't bring diapers or formula, they will give you some to take home with you even. We got a free diaper bag as well from the hospital. They will give you some goodies to get you started.
