Do you think this was a bad idea?

My sister's birthday was the other day so I called and told her happy bday. She told me that my mother had took the money($40) that my grandma sent her for my sis's bday and spent it on me for a diaper bag for my baby shower... I couldn't believe she did that! I felt kinda guilty but I know it's not my fault.. So I wanted to send her a bday card with a gift card, and I thought I would give her $40 that my mom took from her. I told my husband and he said I shouldn't send $40, either less or more but just not $40. But I already sent the gift today... Do you think I shouldn't have sent $40 to her, I just felt like she deserved it from someone you know... What do you think...

Taking the responsibility for your mom's actions, to me is very sweet. It was wrong for your mom to take her money to spend, but if your mom was going to pay her back then i wouldn't see it as a big issue. But either way i think that you did a good thing. Do you always feel envious of the guest who presents the guest of honor with a handmade baby shower gift? The ability to handcraft such a gift is truly a gift itself. Unfortunately, it’s a gift you don’t possess. Or do you? You may not think so, but just because it’s a handmade baby shower gifts doesn’t mean it was hard to make.

So you’re not a sewer. Or so you think. If you know how to thread a needle and you can sew a straight line, one handmade baby shower gift you can probably create is a snuggly baby blanket. A couple of pieces of fabric, thread, and some batting are all you need. If your sewing skills are good, you can try tackling baby clothes, bibs, pillow-soft baby blocks, a play mat, diaper bag, changing pad, holiday ornaments, stuffed fabric letters for decorating walls, or any of the other essential or cute baby things that can be sewn.

Good with wood? Then why go to the store to get the gift when you can show up with a handmade baby shower gift? If you’re really good – and ambitious – you could try creating a rocking horse. That’s something every baby needs. So are wooden building blocks. Even something as simple (or elaborate, depending on your skill level) as a wooden picture frame is a gift that’ll surely be appreciated.
