please could a doctor answer a plain question, i am a 50 year old male, who 8 years ago had a double heart byp

after cabbage, i have had 3 more heart attacks one being an arrest, had 3 stents put into front coronary artery, still have angina, was put on vioxx for gout, is there a connection,?

That sounds like a difficult few years for you.

It can sometimes be difficult to understand why one person has no symptoms for the rest of their life whilst an almost identical person continues to have problems after their bypass surgery. Problems after bypass surgery are far more frequent in patients who continue to smoke tobacco, but I imagine you already know that.

I would suggest that you ask your cardiologist- he/ she will have all the details of the distribution of the disease in your coronary arteries etc and will be able to correlate the timing of your use of Vioxx with your symptoms. It seems a very reasonable question to ask.

Given that you were 42 when you had your coronary bypass, it is reasonable to assume that you are at high risk of atherosclerosis (narrowing of arteries) and symptoms related to this throughout your life.

Good luck, I'm sure your cardiologist will understand your concern. Anybody that answers this question 'yes' or 'no' is giving you bad advice
