Best style curtains for sill-length in transitional (traditional but simpler) bedroom over radiator?
Please help with this design dilemma. In our 1950's small ranch master bedroom, we have corner windows. The main window, that would make the most visual impact, is 63"w by 55" to sill, and it sits right over the old-style heater! The window is flanked by a smaller one, 30"w by 55" to sill.
Beyond the concern of the heater which we can't block, there is hte issue of the framing- there are apparently no studs, and the frames of the windows are flush against each other.
We live in the cool-winter Northeast, and want to insulate as well as decorate. We will need lined drapes.
The furniture is golden pine colored, in simple style, but reminscent of traditional decor. The walls are a rich and deep yellow green (brighter than the olive which suits me) and the floor is strictly a beige (no pink undertones). There are only small touches of maroon or crimson for accent, and I would like maybe a floral that goes well in winter and summer, that uses red. What shape of curtains is best?
The framing is not an an issue as there are wall plugs specifically made to hold screws in drywall that will support large weights if needed. (Lathe and plaster require a different method). If there isn't room above the windows, the rod can be installed onto the ceiling.
I would treat both windows as one (there are rods that come in right angles for corner windows) and in order to create symmetry, visually make the smaller window the same size as the other by extending the window treatment to match the other side. Keep the length the same as well.
I would keep the lines of the curtains simple and straight (pleats, but no valence) but be sure to use extra fabric to add a touch of elegance and it will act as a better insulator.
If it is an old-fashioned water heater, paint it the same colour as the walls with a heat resistant paint and perhaps add a shelf on top. This will visually cause it to disappear. You can place other items on the shelf and it will become an integral part of the room instead of a complication.

How To Keep Your Walk-In Clean
Take one look at the modern day walk in coolers and deli cases, and they appear to be practically indestructible and maintenance free. While this assumption rings true when you compare them with refrigeration products of earlier generation but you can't deny the fact that by following a set maintenance and cleanliness routine you can add years to lives of your deli cases and walk-in coolers.
The thing that needs to be cleaned with regularity is door gaskets and hinges as gaskets are made of rubber which makes them prone to rotting when left caked with food or filth. Needless to say, rotten gaskets affect their sealing properties adversely. It is best to wipe off spill immediately with a cloth soaked in plain water.
If the gasket is already covered with grime and food, you are advised to clean them with a solution of baking soda in warm water or soap solutions. Harsh chemicals should be avoided at any cost as it can react with the surface of your walk in cooler and damage it. When the door gasket of your walk-in cooler becomes cracked, damaged or stiff, it does not allow the magnet to seal properly and you have to replace it.
Hinges just need to be rubbed with petroleum jelly to remain in good working condition. Use mop to keep the floor of your deli case clean but under no condition hose it out. Too much water can flood the seals between floor panels and harm the insulation. The main reason of heating up of compressor motor which also shortens its life is dirty coils. These coils should be clean the coils every 3 months with a vacuum cleaner. Twice a year, use a self-rinsing cleaner, soap and water along with a firm bristled brush to clean evaporator and condensing coils of your walk in cooler.
