G Diapers Liner

g Diapers? Anyone use these?

I've been getting a stash of cloth diapers together, for our second baby come in August. I have 12 mother-ease, and am borrowing 12 from a friend. I also have 5 Kushies from my first child.

The mother-ease look pretty big for a tiny newborn! So I was looking at g Diapers. They look really easy to use (especially for those first few months). I wanted to know if any of you use/have used them, and what you think? I also wanted to know if you can use prefolds, or any kind of cloth liner - or does it have to be specifically for the g Diaper?

I use g-diapers. Love them. My son was born 7lbs 13oz and they leaked b/c his legs were 2 skinny so I used disposables until he was about 9 lbs. Had no problems with leaks after that.

You can use any cloth liners or prefolds so long as they fit. I prefer the ones from g-diaper as they are softer but I've used others that work just as well. I'd give you the measurments but they are all packed away somewhere.

5 should be enough covers as you only have to wash them when they get dirty, not everytime. I believe I had 5. You could probably be okay with 3 as you can just wash them with any other laundry.

Having a couple extra plastic liners is a good idea too. They come in a 2 pack and are pretty cheap.

Cloth Diapers - How to Buy

You can get simple cloth diapers or organic cloth diapers. Organic cloth is highly recommended but it is also more expensive. You should also decide between flat fold and prefold diapers (these are actually types of diaper fabrics and not, as you might think, methods to fold diapers). The flat fold is one layer of cloth while the prefold has several layers of cloth that make the prefold diaper much more absorbent.

Next, decide whether you plan to use cloth of disposable diaper liners. It is a lot less messy to change and wash diapers when you go with the disposable kind, but the environmentally friendly way is all cloth.

Next, you will need to figure how many to buy. This should take into account your baby's age and your lifestyle –specifically how many times a week you are willing to wash your baby's diapers.

Cloth Diapers - How to Fold

First of all – you don't have to learn diaper folding methods. Those who don't feel like bothering with learning different ways to fold cloth diapers, can get cloth diapers that are already cut to size and even have Velcro, so they are as easy and hassle free to use as disposables.
