Is it OK to donate gently used underwear to those that need it?

I'm talking clean, not wholly underwear. Is this appropriate and/or accepted?

YES YES YES!!! I worked in a homeless shelter for 5 years and there was NEVER enough underwear to give to the clients. We would give away 2nd hand underwear when we didn't have brand new ones.As long as it is clean and without holes or stains, it is perfectly acceptable.

I've seen people even stealing used dirty underwear because they needed it so bad.

FYI. A lot of shelters wash their donations in heavy duty washing machines with bleach and it kills any possible germs.
