How can I get my baby girl to stop overpowering me with her legs during diaper change?
It's like WWE smackdown trying to change this kid. She is strong as a bull and she's just 6 months old. She thinks it's funny to watch us struggle to get her cleaned up. I'm scared to really use any muscle with her, as I don't want to hurt her, but she makes you put forth a true effort to restrain her. Is this normal? Will she grow out of this phase?
As far as co-operation when changing your daughter is concerned, you can expect to receive less and less as the months go by and her physical development continues to spurt ahead of her moral development. The indignity of having her nappy canged, teamed with the turtle-on-its-back frustration of being temporarily immobilized, will set off a battle with each change. The trick: be quick (have all the nappying paraphernalia ready and waiting before you lay baby on the table), and provide distractions (a mobile above the changing table, a music box, preferably one that's also visually tempting, a rattle or other toy to occupy her hands, and hopefully, her interest)
