Diaper Bags...Going to the hospital?
Ok here's my question...I have read all kinds of lists that they recomend you to bring with you to the hospital but I really dont think Ice packs, pictures, etc. are really necassary to bring when I go into labor....So for those of you who have givin birth or are getting ready to....what did you pack your diaper bag to bring to the hospital with you ???? and was there anything you feel you could have left at home ??
for baby I took
*Rash cream(hospitals usually don't provide this)
*A couple different pacifiers (in case the baby didn't like the shape the hospital provides)
*A cute hat (the hospital ones are ugly)
*An outfit to bring the baby home in
*car seat
*blankets (It was cold when I had my kids)
For me I took
*an outfit and undergarments to come home in
*brush for my hair (hospitals usually provide only a comb. It is impossible to comb my hair when its almost to my knees)
*My own soap and shampoo and conditioner (hospital soap stinks and they usually don't have conditioner)
*Lotion and chap stick(Again hospital lotion stinks, they usually don't provide chap stick vasoline doesn't work very well for me)
*Toothbrush and toothpaste
*Socks and slippers(hospitals have cold floors)
*Robe (hospital gowns don't cover much embarrassing when people come to visit)
*Razor so I could shave (hospitals have electric razors only, I like a real razor)
*deodorant (they only have antiperspirant I cant use that stuff)
*camera and video camera
I think most people take too much stuff. They never use half of it and its just more crap to have to carry out later. I never felt like changing out of the offered gown there is a lot of bleeding after a birth for a day or so, why ruin my clothes. And putting on my makeup way too much work to lift my sore arms, when all I wanted to do was spend time with my baby. I even had my husband help me pull back my hair because my arms and back hurt so bad after each child I couldn't do it my self.

Finding out your pregnant is the best news of all. Well, second to hearing the grand proposal of a lifetime. After a successful wedding ceremony, hearing that your love has borne fruit is the icing on the cake.
