Can I take a diaper bag as well as my items?

My husband and I are traveling AirTran Airways with our 9 month old. We each have a carry on and a personal item. Do we also get to carry on a diaper bag for our child as well, or will that count as one of our carry on items? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere on their website.

I know that when I flew Allegiant Air they had the same policy, my carry on was my diaper bag and my personal item was my purse. This is how AirTran describes the personal item:

It sounds like the diaper bag would be considered your personal item. It's not mentioned on their website, but it says handbags, and that's comparable to a diaper bag. If you are still unsure, you should contact the airline to get a specific answer as I can't seem to find anything about diaper bags on their website.
