Will the JJ Cole Bundle Me fit my car seat?
I want to get the JJ Cole Bundle Me Lite for my daughter but i'm worried it might not fit our car seat. We have an Evenflo car seat but it's pretty big, will the bundle me fit any car seat?
It might, but you don't want to use one. You should never use any aftermarket product with a car seat. Meaning, if it didn't come in the box with the seat, or from the seat manufacturer specifically for your seat, its not meant to be used with it and could interfere with how the seat works. Bundle Me/cuddle bags/Bundle me lites are particularly hazardous b/c they go between the child and the harness, pretty much covering the seat like a second cover. It affects how the harness fits the child, and adds another layer that will compress in crash making the harness too loose to protect the child. Like a stack of folded towels takes up a good amount of space, bit sit on it puts pressure on it making them smaller and then you could fit them in a smaller space. Same thing in an accident, everything is pushed against the seat and harness and any compressable material will get compressed. The seat manufacturer has taken into account regular clothing and the car seat cover already on the seat, but anything extra changes those calculations and the harness may not hold your child in. Also, they are not of the same flame retardency as car seat covers are required to have. This is really important when in a crash where fires easily start and you want it to be as ratardent as possible to give them more time to get to your child before he burns up. You don't want something like that next to your child's skin, burning him through and through.
If you check your car seat manual it will tell you to not use any aftermarket products. If you check the Bundle Me manual, it will likely either tell you it snot for us in car seats, or tell you to check your car seat manual. If you get one of these, only use it in the stroller. For a safe cover in a car seat, simply use a blanket, or get a shower cap style one, that goes over the whole seat, usually with a little flap or whole for baby to peek out the middle. They don't interfere with the harness or how th seat works at all, so are completely safe. Same rules apply with snowsuits and coats - never put a child in a coat or snowsuit into a car seat. Too much material to compress.
