Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi visits his mother's constituency

Stressing on significance of alternative energy sources for comprehensive prosperity even in interior regions, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday evening interacted with women self-help groups in Kalyanpur Surjai village in the district Raebareli.
The village, equipped with solar energy, falls under the parliamentary constituency of his mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Notably, Kalyanpur Surjai village is among 2,000 villages in the country which has been electrified through non-conventional means. There are six hamlets in the Raebareli and Amethi parliamentary constituencies, which are electrified by alternative means.
Problems being faced by the local people and possible means of redressal of same were discussed by Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi. Among various issues, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi discussed as how self-help groups have positively impacted the living conditions of women folk in the region.
Also, the need to expedite the development process through alternative means including non-conventional sources of energy in the region was given due emphasis by Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi during meeting with women self-help groups.
In the meeting, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi also took note of various Central government-run schemes in the region, under NREGS, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme, Rural Health Mission and Swajal Dhara for drinking water provision for local population.
At Veer Ka Purva hamlet in the Kalyanpur Surjai village, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi made a surprise visit at 7.45 pm and held meeting with Aman Mahila self help group, led by its president Kahkashan Praveen and also, with apex body of self help groups at village level, Kalyani Mahila Gram Sangthan led by its head Saroj Devi.
Since Kalyanpur village is equipped with solar energy, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi focused on further progress of alternative and non-conventional energy means, for growth and prosperity.
Earlier during the day, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi visited Rampatti village in Bhetua block and took stock of the progress related to Bhadar-Jamo Road being developed under Central Road Fund scheme. Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi also discussed various complaints including the irregularities related to this road project, raised by the locals.
Later, during a visit to Malik Mohammad Jaisi Intermediate College at Jais, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi interacted with students and teachers and discussed about various aspects related to education in the institution. Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi enquired from the students about the status of free computer education in the college.
On the conclusion, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi made a commitment for providing infrastructure, including computers for the college from his MPLAD fund.
