kitty recently became handicapped cant use potty HELP Please!!?

My kitty recently became handicapped, her back legs arent working and she cant use her potty, she is doing #1 like crazy which i keep up with ofcourse, but she wont go poo unless she can go in her box obviously she cant position herself, I was thinking maybe diapers. any suggestions till i can get her back to the vet? How long will she hold it for? please please help it's been 2 days i dont want my baby to get any worse than she already is.. Thank You

Your Cat and Your New Baby

You have a brand new bundle of joy now. It is time to bring the baby home. Besides all the regular stuff to worry about like having enough diapers, formula etc., there is the cat. You worry about how your pet will react when the new part of the family is brought home. How will the feline react to the new smell. Will it be jealous? You may even have thought about getting rid of the little critter that keeps you company in the chair or the bed while you watch TV.

The fist thing I want you to know is that it is not necessary to get rid of your cat. The new baby and the little kitty can be best of friends.

So what will your cats reaction be? That depends on the type of personality it has.

If your pet is timid and depends on you for everything, yet is not a social animal around other people, it may get jealous. The new baby is taking time from your feline and it might not like that. This may lead to your cat starting to spray around the house. It is trying to cover up the scent of the new baby. This will let everyone know who is numero uno in the house. If your cat has this personality, try weaning it off of being totally dependent on you. Do this before the baby is born. With enough time, your cat will get more independent.

If you have a cat that is loved and it knows it, you are a step ahead. If your pet wants and is part of everything that goes on in the house, it will want to be a part of the new baby to. If you pet wants to do this, let it. Just be careful that it does not lay on the new baby like it lays on you. The weight of your feline could suffocate the new baby. Keep a close eye on him or her. But do not discourage it from being loving to the new member of the household.

If you have spoiled your cat beyond belief, it will most likely pay no attention to the new addition to the family. This will only be the case as long as you continue to spoil your kitty rotten.

To train your cat for the new arrival, start a whole lot of time before your baby is to come home. In fact, starting before it is born would be ideal. Let the kitty smell all the new furniture and bedding. Let him or her have a look around the new room so it knows what is in there. Cats just want to know what is around them. They may get bored with the room and never go in there again.

When you have you baby, ask one of the nurses if your husband can take a blanket that the baby was wrapped in and bring it home. This way the kitty can smell the scent of the baby. So when you bring Junior home, the cat will already know him or her.

You should also limit the time spent petting your cat as the approach of the new life nears. Once your get your baby home, there will be a limited amount of time for the cat now. Set aside a specific period of time for the cat only. Try to stick to this time frame when the baby comes home.
