Picky kitty only wants human food?

My husband spoiled our Bengal and she won't eat cat food now. I feed my cats only the best dry food that is meat based, but she refuses to eat it. I don't want to starve the poor kitty, but the people food is getting too expensive. I've been boiling her a boneless skinless chickes breast for dinner and lean turkey lunch meat for lunch! She's been to the vet and I've even tried canned food, she thinks she's too good for her cazt food!

The Holistic veterinarian that I work for advocates a "raw foods" diet--one that consists of a recipe similar to what you are currently providing for your cat. He says that the longest living and the healthiest animals that he treats are ones that ARE NOT fed canned and dry food. He encourages giving them a diet that is most similar to their wild nature. You have a Bengal cat...she seems to remember her wild nature more than a really domesticated cat. Good for her!! In terms of expense, you can combine your chicken and turkey with other ingredients such as fresh vegetables, a little potato or brown rice, eggs, etc. to make the meat extend a little further--just make sure to make the meat the main ingredient. Play with steamed peas, carrots, and combine them with the meat. Don't forget to add flavorings and a little juice from the meats. See what she likes. Add some cat vitamins and minerals to balance things out. I'm not advocating large doses of peanut butter, potato chips, chocolate bars and spaghetti O's. But I am saying give some of the nutritious so called "human" foods a try. It can be a lot of fun to play with food for your cat, rather than drive her crazy with starvation!! Things on the verge of starvation tend to eat ANYTHING, healthy or not. So it doesn't prove anything. It only makes them sad. A little dry food on occasion certainly wouldn't hurt if she were interested. Your husband's on the right track. Get him to prepare for you some of those good meals like your kitty gets! Or better yet, have a great fun meal all together... wouldn't that be the best! It may seem as though your cat is spoiled, but how else is she going to let you know what she needs in her diet? I truly don't know how some animals endure eating the same thing every meal. I know sometimes I can't even eat the same thing for three days in a row! Just think about it! Have you ever tasted cat food or dog food? Try it... see what it tastes like, then imagine eating that every day. Check out raw food diets for cats on-line. You can prepare an easy, great food diet for your cat without killing your wallet. Isn't a little research worth a little happiness for a little someone who loves to be a great friend, i.e. your cat? P.S. THIS CAN BE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN PURCHASED CAT FOOD!!!! Make up a whole pot of it and share with your other cats... put some food in the freezer for later. Most of all HAVE FUN!!! Isn't it just the greatest thing to see your cat really healthy and happy?
