The Great Baby Bedding Challenge

In an article on how to find the best baby bedding, it must not be to hard or to soft. In the past, sudden infant death syndrome, sids was attributed to very soft bedding. This can happen if the baby's mattress is to soft and his nose and mouth gets covered and the air that is exhaled is also the air that is inhaled. This could be dangerous and can lead to drowsiness coma or even death so please think of this when buying a mattress.

There are lots of styles and choices when to comes to baby's bed. And so the bedding must be a perfect fit with the chosen equipment. The main three selections are bassinet cot or cradle. What are the differences? A bassinet is an oblong shaped basket that serves as an infant bed. A cot is a bed with high sides and bars that can be used when the baby becomes a young child so is more economical as it can be used for longer. A cradle is on rockers or on a swinging stand. So the choice is up to you. In all these choices safety must come first.

Bassinets are normally lacey and full of trimmings. The baby bedding must fit the bassinet so there is enough room for the baby to roll from side to side. The cot is normally square and mattresses can be fitted to the size of cot. The baby bedding is usually a fitted sheet and either blankets or a quilt and usually a bumper to go around the top. The cradle can come in various shapes and sizes some mothers prefer a cradle as they can rock their baby, this can be very calming for the baby. However you don't need all of these to keep your baby safe warm and happy. The most preferred is the cot as it can be used for longer.

Now that the basic equipment is covered, now it's time to think about dressing the baby bedding. The most suitable material is cotton as it is absorbent and cool on the baby's skin. Different designs and colours can stimulate the baby as do patterns.  You can have so much fun choosing the baby bedding to fit in with the colour scheme of the nursery to keep your baby happy and stimulated, but always make sure that it is safe
