Parents! What are the top 10 things needed for a new baby?
So far we have listed in items to buy:
Crib
Stroller
Carseat
Bottles
diaper bag and diapers
Newborn onsies and outfits....then we just kinda trailed off
Can you list for us the most essential things needed for a first baby? Thanks!!! <3
The most essential things for the first few weeks would be the clothes, diapers, bottles, bottle brush, formula (if your not breastfeeding), car seat, wipes, thermometer, pacifier, spit cloths, receiving blankets, cotton swabs(cleaning belly button), nail clipper or file, nose bulb sucker, socks and bassinet or Moses basket. But all the rest of the stuff sure helps, here's a list of what I have/had:
spit/burp cloths and lots of them
swing
bouncer
receiving blankets
formula
diapers
wipes
diaper bag
crib
bassinet
mobile
bottles (might need to try different ones out to find what baby likes)
a carrier, like a moby wrap (check www.mobywrap.com)
get 0-3 month clothes, you don't know how big your baby will be when born, mine was 7lbs 5oz, only got her in the newborn onesies for a weeks, the 0-3 are a little big but so so so much easier to put on their delicate little bodies.
Sleepers, long sleeves with footies or gowns
newborn socks, not only for cold little feet up fit on hands so much better then the little gloves to stop them from scratching themselves.
thermometer
grooming kit- with nail clippers and nose sucker
baby wash, i love Johnson's head to toe
bath tub, mine is Safety 1st I love it
wash clothes and towels(won't give bath until umbilical cord falls off)
pants and shorts depending no where you live, 0-3 months again is good size
get a few 3-6 months just in case too, my nephew was in 3-6 months clothes by three weeks old, they go more on weight then age
I actually love the little rompers they are like a onsie and shorts all in one
pacifiers (might need more than one brand, mine will only take the soothie brand)
Changing table
diaper pail, babies r us has good inexpensive ones
pack and play with changer if you have two story house
crib sheets, bassinet sheets
crib bumper
baby laundry detergent or dye free sensitive
night light, so you can see in the dark and not disturb baby
baby book
photo album
sleep sacks, better then blankets at night
water proof crib pads
boppy pillow
you'll need more as they get bigger like toys, books, teething rings, play mat/gym, tummy time mat, highchair, etc.
Walmart.com has really good prices on Graco strollers and car seats, they are rated very well also, they also have good prices on cribs and changing tables and pack and plays, kohls.com had some good prices on swings and bouncers last week don't know if they still do, the Especially for baby diapers are great for a cheap alternative to the name brands if money is tight.
