Anyone try washing their Petunia Pickle Bottom baby diaper bag?

I purchased a gently used one at a second hand store for only $40. and it retails for $210. To my surprise, it says dry clean only! OMG, who would make a baby item that can't be washed?

Anyway, sometimes items say Dry Clean but can be safely washed and laid flat. Have you ever owned one and washed it?
Isn't it crazy- The cost? They have a local store that carries them from$165 to $500! My daughter is who I bought it for. She mentioned how she would love to have one but wouldn't dream of asking anyone for such a pricey item. I just happened to be at the local Second hand Baby store and she had one in exactly my daughter's preferred color so of course, being mom, I bought it for her. However, since I don't know where it's been, I have to clean it even though it is in excellent shape (germs don't show themselves!) Thanks for all the input.

I've not owned one before and can't even believe they cost that much. That said, I've put my dry clean only wool coat in the dryer on low heat with a fabreze fabric sheet and it did a great job cleaning it up and airing it out. You could try that maybe? Otherwise, I would spring for the dry cleaner just this once.
