Does Obama pretty much have the election in the bag?

I'm concerned.

No. Never believe the polls, they are historically wrong and inaccurate.

Obama gets a huge boost from young voters and they tend to be the worst voting block from the stand point of reliability on election day.

Obama is a dynamic speaker, McCain is not.
Obama is young and vibrant, McCain is not.
Obama has everyone believing that last 8 years have been horrible.
Obama promises change and hope, (or hope and change)
Obama is promising more money to 95% of the country by taking it from 5% of the country. (Basically trying to buy the vote of 95% of the people)
Obama's money machine campaign brings in millions and millions (even after Obama originally promised to use Public Financing, he changed his mind when he realized his private donations were the better deal.)
Obama has out spent McCain by a huge margin.
McCain's campaign to this day finds it hard to raise a lot of money.
Obama has been embraced by the most liberal of the Democratic Party.
McCain's support in his own party was lukewarm at first.

Given all the above you would think that Obama would be up by 15 to 20 points. Expecting a litteral landslide.

Yet it is only a handful of points (if that, with margins of error making it a tie.)

For the record, Barak Obama has not even served one full term as a senator, has written no meaningful legislation. Has never voted for or pushed the issue or spoken about the need to cut taxes. (this is not retoric, this is fact)

I could go into dozen's of reasons why I think Obama will lose, but it comes down to one thing Obama promised he had when his lack of experience was questioned. Judgement.

Everything in his past has pointed to the fact that Barak Obama has poor judgement.

His relationship with William Ayers. At first Obama lied and said he was some guy in the neighborhood, and then it grew and grew. Obama says what happened in the 1960's doesn't matter because Barak was 8 years old.. by that logic, if Hilter were alive and unrepentent like Ayers is. It would be okay to associate with Hitler because Hitler's attrocities happened before Obama was born.

That's poor judgement.

In 2007 Obama said that NBC should fire Don Imus for Imus' stupid remarks concerning the Rutgers University Women's Basketball Team. He found the remarks "hurtful and hateful" considering his young daughters someday might like to play sports. Yet Barak Obama never had a problem subjecting his daughters to Rev. Jerimiah Wright, never gave his anti-white anti-American hateful speech a second thought as something that might be hurtful for his daughters to listen to. Obama and his supporters will tell you that Obama denounced Wright and withdrew from the his church. When? When these things were said intially? When these things hit the media? No, when it became blatently clear that Rev Wright was harmful to his campaign. It was done because it was politcally expedient, not because it was the right thing to do. If the tapes never surfaced we can rest assured that Obama would still be a member, and his daughters would still be listening.

That's poor judgement.

Prior to the economic issues Obama has run his campaign on one single issue.. that Bush got us into a unpopular war. Just last week Joe Biden stated that Obama would be tested in the first 6 months of his administration and that the actions Obama would take would be unpopular. That sounds oddly familiar to what he's running against to me. I'm sure it does not sit well with other people either.

I'm no genius, I have a degree in economics, 20 plus years on Wall St. I read the papers and watch the news from BOTH sides, conservative slant as well as liberal slant. I know that neither of these two are my ideal candidate, each has major flaws. I don't think this country is capable of getting truly qualified candidates due to the horrificliy intense media scrutiny. No sane person would want to put their family and friends through that.

But it worries me that too many people are unaware of the issues that face this country today, or the type of country this was set up to be.

The Federal Government was set up, by our Founding Fathers, through the Constitution to be a limited Government. Not a government of unlimited handouts, to people or corporations. There are no guarantees against failing.. and there never should be. Most of the laws to be written by the individual states. We've gone so far away from that I dont know if we'll ever get back.. but I do know that bigger government is not the answer.

Anyway.. don't listen to the polls. The polls are meant to demoralize one side into staying home, staying on the sidelines in a losing battle.

Make sure to vote, whoever you support.

How to Buy Your First Sleeping Bag

Like you, I love camping and there is nothing better than sleeping outside on a cool spring night.  I started camping a few years ago and decided to make the investment and buy a tent, sleeping bag and all of the other amenities.  When I started looking for a sleeping bag I was overwhelmed with the style and selection that were available.  After some research I bought my first sleeping bag and I have been happy ever since.  To save you some time, I have written down some tips that helped me make my first sleeping bag purchase.

To start, you have to decide on the temperature rating you want for your sleeping bag.   Think about the approximate temperature when you will be camping or hiking.  Generally, sleeping bags are rated as: 3-Season (+10 degrees to +32 degrees), winter (-10 and below), summer (+32 and higher) and cold weather (+10  to -10).  And remember, it makes sense to choose a bag that is rated a little bit lower than you will need.  A lower rated sleeping bag will keep you warm if the temperature really drops down on a cold night. Plus, you can always unzip the bag if you need to cool off.

Second, you have to choose the insulation that makes sense for your needs.  The two types of insulation that are available include down or synthetic.    The biggest advantage for down sleeping bags is that they are typically very light and goose down is an excellent insulator.  The biggest problem with a Down Sleeping Bag is that if it gets wet, it will take forever to dry and it will lose its insulating benefits.  On the flip side, Synthetic Sleeping bags can get wet because they can dry quickly.  In addition, Synthetic Sleeping bags are typically less expensive than down sleeping bags. The only real problem with synthetic sleeping bags is that they will be typically heavier than a down sleeping bag.

The last part of the equation is choosing the shape of the sleeping bag.  You will see that most sleeping bags are designed in a "Mummy" form.  These bags are optimized to keep you the warmest since they are narrow and your body heat will be conserved efficiently.  Plus, the "Mummy" shape can pack up pretty small since they are designed with less material.  However, these bags can be a little snug and if you are claustrophobic you might be more interested in a rectangular bag.  The rectangular bag will take up more space and will be a little bit heavier, but it will give you more space.  Lastly, there are also sleeping bags specifically designed for women.  These bags are typically shorter in length and are wider in the hip area.
