How do I turn on my sprinkler system (with pictures to clarify)?

I'm trying to figure out how to turn on my sprinklers for spring. There are about 5 different knobs or valves here and I'm more than a little confused. Please help!

Here is the whole contraption. There are two PVC pipes that go deep into the ground and each one has a little faucet way at the bottom. The red one is towards the back yard, the black one is towards the front yard. The metal monstrosity coming up from the ground has two blue handled valves and then a brass faucet that looks like something a hose would connect to.

If you know how to help me, please give me specific advice, like on the blue handled valves I have no idea which way is open, so if the handle is supposed to be parallel to the pipe or perpendicular to it please let me know.

What you have there is a Pressure Vacuum Breaker, or PVB.
It stops water that has gone through to your sprinkler lines from returning to and contaminating your main supply line and the main water line supplying your neighborhood.
Once water has entered your sprinkler lines, it is no longer considered "potable" or drinkable.
The PVB prevents this from happening.
When the (blue) levers of the valves are in line, or parallel to the pipe they are attached to, they are open.
Perpendicular = closed.

How to Decorate Your Window Boxes for the Holidays

This is the time of when houses shine lights and holiday yard art is transformed into lawns ordinary magic shows. When you plan your holiday decorations outside, why are you not trying window boxes in new ways? Ten ideas for Hooks and Lattice sleep, including window boxes this year holiday decorating scheme:
