Does your black lab chew things when you are not home?

Jazz is 6 years old. If I leave anything out she will chew it. She will chew scrapbooking ribbons, and embellishments. One time I forgot my daughter's diaper bag and she shredded it. She has chewed my daughter's stuffed toys. I leave the trash in the pantry with the door shut or else she will get it. She gets dirty dishes out of the sink while I am gone.
I shut all of the doors upstairs before I leave the house because my worst nightmare would be she gets into my daughter's room and get's ahold of her nice things.

Is this normal for a black lab? Why does my boyfriend's dog behave this way?

My lab chews up everything also if you leave her alone. She likes to chew on the wood on the balcony floor as well. I don't know if this is due to her being a lab or just a puppy
