Rope Skipping Advice for Beginner?


I am getting back into shape and I would like to start adding a rope skipping routine to my program. I have skipped rope a little before, but can do only the most basic at this point (hop with both feet.) What advice do you have for getting in shape skipping rope, and maybe learning some rope skipping exercises from boxing? My main objective is to build stamina and lose fat weight. Any input, info, or links would be greatly appreciated!

How to Improve Vertical Leap - Improve Vertical Jump

If you regularly take part in sport then you will understand just how competitive some activities can be. Many sports now require a good leaping ability. This is not just basketball, soccer and baseball players also spend a lot of time jumping. There are various factors which may contribute to your jumping ability, diet and your genes play a role but most people should be able to improve vertical leap.

No sporting or athletic talent can be acquired without hard work and regular exercise; there isn't a magic drug you can take to make you leap higher. To start to improve you will need to practice jumping, though this may seem laborious it will help enhance your ability. The strength of your calf muscles plays a large role in determining how many feet off the ground you get.

Daily exercises should be focused towards improving the size and strength of leg muscles. Perhaps the simplest way to do this is to have a daily session with a skipping rope. If you can skip for approximately thirty minutes each day your leg muscles will become toned and you will also have much better balance and coordination.

When jumping you also need to control your positioning and posture. Many athletes have found that hopping can help them in this regard. Hopping exercises allow both legs to develop in their strength and coordination.

If you attend a gym or have a professional coach they are likely to advice using steps or stairs to develop your vertical leaping ability. Even if you live in a ground floor apartment you will most likely have steps somewhere indoors.

If you are determined and have will power then it is possible to improve vertical leap. It can also be useful to incorporate other exercises which help to develop you lung capacity; when jumping around it is easy to get out of breath.
