When do you think I'd be able to start pointe classes?

Well, let me start off by saying I'm a beginner. I took beginning jazz and hip hop this previous year (well "season" at my studio). I went to dance camp where we did different styles, and we had ballet for about 5 hours in total. The ballet teacher said I was pretty good. Starting next moth I'll be taking Jazz IV/V - which is probably around intermediate/advanced level, hip hop, Ballet IV (she let me skip beginning ballet), and intermediate lyrical (again, she let me skip beginning).

I don't want to sound arrogant, but I think that for my level I'm pretty good. I understand I won't be able to go en pointe for awhile. Before I started dance, I was black belt in karate, so I have fairly good strength in my legs. I'm stretching everyday and doing releves. Oh, and I'm 14 now! How long do you think it will take? What are some things I should know how to do/ ways to get more strength now?

im sorry, but even if you have done karate, your teacher shouldn't let you do pointe until you've done at least 2 yrs of ballet. It isn't all about strength, it's also about flexibility, balance and being able to hold yur turnout while dancing.
I suggest, to prepare for pointe:
Stand in retire passe on each leg for a minute (supporting leg on demi pointe, other leg held up, turned out to the knee.)
Do 30 releves each day in first and 5th.
Do 20 releves on each foot.
Practice standing on demi pointe for as long as you can: one one leg, 1st, 2nd and 5th.
If you can do all of this without holding onto a barre, you're ready for pointe! GOOD LUCK!

Should I quit ballet?

Okay so I've been dancing since I was 3 years old, but it was only like one jazz class per week until I was 8 years old. Then, I started taking 2 ballet classes, jazz, and modern. Every year I added more classes, and now I'm 12 years old and am taking 5 ballet classes at a serious ballet academy, plus jazz, modern, and hip hop at a recreational studio. Lately, though, the only classes I've been LOVING are jazz, modern, and hip hop. I dread going to the ballet classes, and when I do go, I don't try my hardest and I always look at the clock every other second until class is over. I keep on looking for ways to skip classes. I want to quit the ballet academy, and just take jazz, modern, and hip hop. Also, I have been getting really into swimming, track, and lacrosse, and I want to join on a competitive level but I can only do that if I quit the academy. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!

If you really don't enjoy the ballet anymore, drop it. It's not the end of the world. You will already have gained a lot from it and it will be improving your other dance, and your sports abilities. There really is no point in doing something you dislike.

Think very hard before you do drop it though. Why did you begin ballet? what did you hope to get out of it? What has changed? Could this be a temporary dislike?

I dropped ballet when I was 11, by the time I was 17 I was really wishing I'd kept it up. Keeping one or two classes going could be a good idea. Hedge your bets!
