(a) The Lord Mayor's Parade is always on a Saturday, not a Friday.

2. Some important news was expected to break today, as indeed it did. The Bank of England announced a ΒΌ percentage point rise in UK interest rates, taking them to a five-year high of 5%. The photographers were being contained in the area opposite the Bank of England.
