Style Very

How can I style my very short, curly hair?
Last year I was very ill and as a result I lost all my hair (eeek!) I was given a wig to wear so I could go out without feeling self conscious but now I feel my hair has grown back enough that I don't need the wig anymore.
The only problem is my hair is still very short and I don't know what to do with it. I've always worn my hair long (it was way down my back when it started to fall out) so I don't even know where to start when styling it! It's also so incredibly curly and frizzy that I feel like a crazy old lady when I leave it natural! (If you've ever seen Dylan Moran in Black Books - That's my hair! lol)
I feel even too embarrassed to go to a hairdresser because my hair is so short so if you have any tips I would love to hear them.
Get some Gel and run that through it . It will give the look of being polished . Get a stiff kind.

Very Best Of $6.99 Producers: Timmy Allen (tracks 1, 8); Brian "Chuck" New, Jolyon Skinner (track 2); Gerald Levert, Marc Gordon, Eddie Levert, Sr. (track 3); Timmy Allen, Fritz Cadet (track 4); Larry Smith (track 5); Millie Jackson, Pjaye Scott, Douglas Knyght (tracks 6-7); Jolyon Skinner (track 9); Loris Holland (track 10); Millie Jackson (track 11).Engineers: Pjaye Scott (tracks 6-7); Timmy Reppert (track 8, 11); Sanchez Harley, Bill Deaton, Timmy Reppert (track 10).All songs co-written by Millie Jackson except "Love Is A Dangerous Game" (W. Brathwaite/J. Butler), "Something You Can Feel" (G. Levert/M. Gordon/E. Levert), "When Are You Gonna Tell Your Woman (About Me)" (P. Scott/D. Knyght/T. Owens), "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" (C. King/G. Goffin). The title of this collection of Millie Jackson's work for Jive Records is somewhat misleading in that it focuses only on the singer's output from the 1980s and '90s (and does not include any of her fine--and in many ways her best--material from the '70s). By the '80s, Jackson had firmly established her saucy, provocative recording persona, and that personality comes through clearly on such tracks as the hit single "Hot! Wild! Unrestricted! Crazy Love." Jackson was also known for her spoken word interludes, delivered in something of a proto-rap style. Sadly, these are not included on the VERY BEST! Still, this 11-track set is a fine sampler of Jackson's later career, and her soulful, rough-hewn vocals and scintillating themes hold up beautifully. |

Very Best Of Ed Ames $6.99 Additional personnel includes: Perry Botkin, Jr., Al Capps, Artie Butler, Jimmie Haskell (arranger, conductor); Claus Ogerman (conductor).Compilation producer: Paul Williams.Includes liner notes by Joseph F. Laredeo. All tracks have been digitally remastered. This is part of RCA's "100th ANNIVERSARY" series. The Very Best of Ed Ames might seem like a skimpy anthology with only 14 tracks, but it is an excellent distillation of this classic pop singer's solo recordings. Ames, having come from the barbershop-style Ames Brothers quartet, offered pop standards, continental pop, show tunes, and adult contemporary music on his solo albums, but his hits were mostly in a contemporary vein. The Very Best of Ed Ames covers most of Ames' big hits and concentrates on broadly appealing material like "My Cup Runneth Over" and the antiwar song "Who Will Answer?" Ames' foray into country music yielded a winner with his version of Jerry Reed's "A Thing Called Love," and a few of the cuts here are in a similar country-pop style. After the success of "Who Will Answer?," Ames attempted other message-oriented songs, like Wally Whyton's "Leave Them a Flower," to which he was not well suited; it would have been better if that track had been omitted in favor of one of his other big easy listening hits like "Timeless Love." Aside from that minor quibble, The Very Best of Ed Ames offers a fine retrospective of the mightiest baritone in pop music. [RCA released this collection only a year after the Taragon label licensed many of the same recordings for a 20-track Ed Ames anthology with the exact same title.] ~ Greg Adams |

Very Fond of Food: $19.78 A stylish and charming cookbook from a rising food star that interweaves personal anecdotes about food and the good life with 100 simple and appealing seasonal recipes. Sophie Dahl gained notoriety in the UK as a top fashion model before switching gears to write and cook. She’s now a celebrity on the British food scene, with a comforting, natural cooking style designed to appeal to health-minded home cooks who don’t mind a bit of indulgence. Featuring wholesome dishes that never feel ascetic, this cookbook favors natural sweeteners, minimal meat, and abundant produce. Recipes like Rhubarb Rice Pudding and Roasted Pumpkin with Sautéed Greens and Toasted Cumin Dressing are organized seasonally, and the book finishes with a full chapter of luscious desserts. But the recipes are only part of the story--Sophie’s food-filled memories and musings on the good life make this a book to treasure for its writerly charms as much as for its advice in the kitchen. With photography that showcases both the colorful recipes and Sophie’s beguiling good looks, reflections on her idiosyncratic family and her days in the fashion world, and a lovely design featuring Sophie’s own illustrations, this is a witty and whimsical cookbook loaded with style and an easy charm. Very Fond of Food will enchant the eye with evocative photography and whimsical drawings; inspire the mind with witty recollections on family, travel, and romance; and captivate the palate with recipes that comfort body and soul. Sophie Dahl invites you into a delightful world where every meal is a story, and there’s always an excuse for cake. |

The Very Best of the Wailing Souls $14.99 Though this collection features a bakers' dozen of superlative tunes, all illustrating why the Wailing Souls and their mystical harmonies survived lineup and label changes for over 30 years. The biggest news here is the inclusion of a track never before released on an album and only previously available on a hard-to-find 12" "discomix." The unforgettable "They Don't Know Jah" is a reggae gem that could show today's "fiyah" burning DJs that you don't necessarily have to singe to strike a blow for the Almighty. The lyrics are full of grace and pride, and it would be hard to find a more perfect testament to belief.Top producers are highlighted as well; the late Henry "Junjo" Lawes with "Kingdom Rise Kingdom Fall" and "Firehouse Rock" (a tribute to one of the roughest and most musically fertile Kingston ghettos), and Linval Thompson, with the hymn-like "Who No Waan Come." The celebrated "Bredda Gravalicious" with "Pipe" Matthews singing lead is here, as are the wise warnings of "War," both done in the Souls' singular, enduring harmony style. |

I'm looking for a pair of very durable, aviator style sunglasses, what do you recommend?
I'm starting the police academy in August, and upon completion I'll need a pair of durable, polarized sunglasses to deal with the high glare and potentially violent environment I'll be faced with on a daily basis. I'd like to find a pair of aviator style glasses as well. What do you recommend?
I watched the Today Show yesterday and they featured polarized sunglasses from SunglassWarehouse.com. They are affordable too! Check it out:
