Thanksgiving Fall Custom
Cantonese customs for meeting the family?
Ok. My boyfriend's chinese and his family all speaks cantonese I'm going to meet his parents, grandparents, cousins, the whole shebang on Thanksgiving (just happens to be the day our anniversary falls on this year.) Now, I've met his parents before but never his grandparents (I was always afraid they'd freak out because I'm black!) and it's a dinner setting (eek!) so does anyone know any customs I should follow? Should I bring a gift? Offer to help in the kitchen? Anything!?
Bring fruits or a box of chocolate. Don't offer to help in the kitchen. They shouldn't expect it of you either. Just be polite to everyone and don't act weird.
