What can I bring onto the plane for carry on items?

I am flying to Colorado for a wedding so what am I allowed to bring and not allowed to bring on the plane? I want everything to be carried on because I hate checking things in; something always goes wrong! Things I need to know if I can bring them on the plane are:

A curling Iron
A hair Straightener
A dress in a hanger bag w/hanger
Deodorant
Makeup
Perfume
Nail polish
Nail Kit (nail file, nail clippers, etc.)
Pocket knife and scissors (less then a inch long)
Sewing needles and thread (travel size)
Tooth paste
Mouth wash
Shampoo and conditioner

And if there is anything an everyday traveler might have that's not allowed. Please let me know so I am not to pack it.

Shampoo and conditioner - must be under 3 oz.

Also anything that is liquid (this includes shampoo, conditioner, makeup, deoderant, toothpaste, mouthwash, nail polish, etc, must be put into a little plastic baggy).
