Trimming Diaper Mothers using MCN's, what is your favorite kind of nappy/diaper?
I love the ones I use around the house in the day time (Baby Beehinds) but I am looking for a Modern cloth nappy that is nice and trim. All of my little guys pants are starting to wear out around teh waist due to the extra bulk of the nappy, and when we bought the next size up in pants, they were just way too big, despite adjustable waists etc.
So while we're at home, it's not a big deal, as we usually just let him roam around the house in track suit pants, or if it's warm enough just the nappy (But, alas I am in Victoria, Australia, smack bang in the middle of winter, so that's a no go!)
What is a nice and trim nappy that offers pretty good protection? We did try the Baby Beehinds Petites, but we had leaking problems despite all sorts of adjustments.
You might try a pocket diaper that you can stuff more for higher absorbency or less for a trimmer fit.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A diaper in North America or nappy in the United Kingdom, Australia, many Commonwealth countries and Ireland is a spongelike garment which people wear who are incapable of controlling their bladder or bowel movements, or are unable or unwilling to use a toilet. When diapers become full and can no longer hold any more waste, they require changing; this process is often performed by a secondary person such as a parent or caregiver. Failure to change a diaper on a regular enough basis can result in diaper rash. Diapers have been worn throughout human history, and made of cloth or disposable materials. Whereas cloth diapers are composed of layers of fabric such as microfiber and can be washed and reused multiple times, disposable diapers contain absorbent chemicals and are thrown away after use. The decision to use cloth or disposable diapers is a controversial one, owing to issues ranging from convenience, health, cost, and their effect on the environment. Currently, disposable diapers are the most commonly used, with Pampers, Luvs, and Huggies being some wellknown brands in the industry. How do organic diapers differ from standard cloth diapers? The simplest answer is that they are made from all organic materials such as pure, organic cotton, which is less likely to irritate a baby's sensitive skin and is an environmentally friendly choice.
Parents should take the time to make sure everything that goes into their baby or toddler is wholesome, pure and natural. Choosing organic diapers means they can also rest easy knowing that what is touching their child's skin twenty-four hours a day is pure and organic. Organic wool or cotton diapers are made from pure, unbleached cloth that hasn't been chemically treated. No pesticides on the cotton plants to harsh chemicals on the wool; just the softest, most natural cloth possible.
It's easy to put your baby in organic diapers because they now come in a variety of shapes, styles and sizes. The most basic style closely resembles the old style of diaper used by mothers a few generations back; thick in the middle with extra layers of material that had to be folded into shape and pinned into place. Fortunately, you can now use these with organic diaper covers that use either snaps or Velcro to hold the diaper securely in place. There are several other styles that combine convenience, superior fit and style that you may want to consider. Some of the most common styles of organic diapers are outlined below.
All-In-One Organic Diapers are great if you like the ease and convenience of disposable diapers. These are a diaper and cover all in one that can be snapped or Velcroed on with no trouble. Some of these feature an absorbent cotton interior with an outer cover of wool for added cushioning. You wash the entire diaper, including the attached cover. Although they take a bit longer to dry and may be harder to clean, these are great if you're looking for a transition from disposables to organic diapers.
Fitted Organic Diapers look like disposables because they are shaped to fit the natural shape of a baby or toddler. They often have soft, comfortable gathers around the leg openings for a leak-free fit and added comfort. These do require a separate diaper cover, but they are easier to wash and dry and are versatile enough to be used as your child grows older.
One-Size Organic Diapers give you exceptional cost savings because they can be adjusted to fit your child from infancy into his or her toddler years. You'll need to buy far fewer diapers, which is always a plus for the environment. You can use diaper doublers or liners as your child grows older to improve the absorbability of one-size diapers. Most one-size diapers feature a series of snaps or adjustable Velcro so you can resize the diaper to fit perfectly.
The name Pre-fold Diapers is a bit misleading. They are basically rectangles of material much like what were used generations ago. The “pre-fold” refers to the fact that there is more material in the center third of the diaper, making it more absorbent. Although these aren't quite as fitted as others, they are very comfortable when used with a diaper cover and are the most economical kind of organic diapers you can find.
Pocket Diapers have a nice, trim fit because they come in several styles. They do need to be washed with every use, but they don't need a separate diaper cover. The beauty of these is that you can tuck a pre-fold diaper or cloth liner into the interior pocket to increase absorbency if your child tends to soak through his or her diapers. Some of the nicest pocket organic diapers feature a pocket of super-soft fleece. The fleece is the only thing touching your baby's skin, as the pocket is made of fleece and moisture is wicked through it and into the cotton or wool insert.
If you want to protect your baby's delicate skin and are looking for a convenient, economical solution to the diapering dilemma, organic diapers are the perfect choice.
